frequently asked questions

where does my donation go?

Your £3 donation will go to the 5 charities in the Hertfordshire area. A small donation of 2.5% + 10p is deducted from each transaction. Any operational costs are borne with a little help from our friends at OnBrand Group and our brilliant partners St Albans District Council and St Albans BID for their initial funding.

where can i donate?

Our first site is at OnBrand Group, 12-14 Victoria Street, St Albans, AL1 3JB, You can find the location on this map.

can i host a unit?

Yes! We are always on the look-out for more retailers, bars, cafes, or public spaces to host donation points. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please drop us a line and we can talk you through the process to see if it’s a good fit for you.

how do i know it’s safe?

Contactless is the safest way to give. Machines are locked to the donation bank account, meaning that your money can’t be diverted, and unlike with cash, there’s zero chance of petty theft or fraud. Like a contactless payment, each transaction is encrypted by third-parties on the spot, so we capture no personal data and your card details are kept safe.

how can i make a donation?

You can donate using your VISA or Mastercard contactless card, but also your smart device (phone or watch) if it has Apple or Google Pay set up. At the moment, we do not accept Amex.

does gift aid apply

Sadly not at the moment, but we are working very hard on bringing this feature out soon.

how do i know if my donation has gone through

The machine will make an audible beep and a green light will flash on. And whilst you’re there double your donation by doing it again!

can i get a receipt?

Sure, email info@tap2beat.org if you need us to issue a refund or you’d like a receipt.
